Chris Lopez was elected in June of 2018 to represent Monterey County's Third District. Supervisor Lopez was born and raised in King City, in the heart of the Salinas Valley. After graduating from Claremont McKenna College in Southern California, Chris returned home to serve as an intern for Supervisor Simón Salinas. He quickly earned the opportunity to become Supervisor Salinas' Chief of Staff, a position he held until he was elected to the Board of Supervisors.

After ten years of service to his community, including eight years on the Arts Council for Monterey County, Hartnell Community College Foundation and Redevelopment Oversight Board's for King City, Greenfield, Soledad, and Gonzales, Chris ran to succeed Supervisor Salinas after he announced his retirement.

Supervisor Lopez is committed to the betterment of our communities through economic growth, housing opportunities, investments in early childhood education, and better job opportunities. He believes the work of government should be informed and equitable.
